Root canal or implants.

With the new development of implant dentistry dentist have been able to do so much more with dentistry. However conventional dentistry still has its place. The dreadful words of root canal makes people cringe and most people don't understand why it can cost so much for a root canal and crown to protect the tooth. The truth is it takes just as long for a dentist to do a good root canal and crown as it does to complete an extraction implant. In fact it probably takes more time. The truth is your natural teeth is king. If you ever talk to anyone who had a complicated case with implants they will tell you not everyone individual is that straightforwards. Implants can be an easy procedure but when problems arise it is very difficult to fix.

Why natural teeth?

These ligaments still provide a sense element to those teeth. Why is this important you ask? Imagine biting on something extremely hard like a bone or seed. Patients with the ligaments can still feel and will withdraw their bite when feeling the sensation of biting something really hard. Patients with implants will not and will bite hardly on whatever food is present. This will cause the implant tooth to receive such force that you can possibly break it. When implant crowns break it is not cheap to fix and it also is very painful to fix.  Implants really only give you back about 35-50 percent of the chewing force compared to the regular teeth. Remember implants are the end game for teeth and if it were me I'd try my best to prolong my teeth for as long as possible before I have to put in dental implants. No dental treatment is 100 percent predictable but when you have dental problems you need to be willing to take the risk of surgery to save what is left of that tooth. When you have a problem we will do a comprehensive examination of the tooth to make sure no fractures or other pathologies are present with the tooth and we will provide you with a prognosis of the tooth so you can best make your desicion regarding whether or not this is the best treatment.

Call us if you'd like to know what is the best for you implants or root canals. Thanks!
